Medicare Part B – Medical Insurance
Medicare Part B is your coverage for everyday health care — the doctor visits, tests, and treatments that help you stay healthy and manage conditions before they become serious.
I’m Jake McGeoy, your local Medicare agent, and I’m here to help you understand what Part B covers, what it costs, and how to avoid any surprises.
What Does Medicare Part B Cover?
Part B helps pay for:
- Doctor’s visits – Primary care and specialists.
- Outpatient services – Same-day hospital services, medical supplies, and minor procedures.
- Preventive care – Screenings, shots, and yearly wellness visits to catch problems early.
- Lab tests & imaging – Blood work, MRIs, X-rays, and more.
- Durable medical equipment (DME) – Wheelchairs, oxygen, and other medically necessary equipment.
- Certain home health care services – If ordered by your doctor.
Jake’s Tip: Preventive services are 100% covered under Part B when you use providers who accept Medicare. That means flu shots, cancer screenings, and your yearly wellness visit could be no cost to you.
Who Should Enroll in Part B?
You should enroll if:
- You’re 65 or older and don’t have other creditable coverage (like from an employer).
- You’re under 65 and qualify for Medicare due to a disability.
- You want access to preventive care, doctor visits, and outpatient treatment. Waiting to sign up for Part B when you’re eligible could mean paying a late enrollment penalty — for life.
